Utange March 2023

It is now customary to visit our friends in Utange at least twice a year.

I recently returned from my first visit to Utange this year, bringing with me two suitcases of clothes and a box of glasses donated by an optical shop in Lugano. These gifts were much appreciated by the local community, who need help and support to cope with their daily difficulties.

During my visit, we also had drainage and rainwater collection channels built in addition to the existing ones. This was a very important intervention to improve the quality of life in the area, which is often flooded during the rainy season.

Also, present were Angelica Cavallero and David, who proposed some interventions to the old administration office. Angelica also donated a 25 kg bag of rice to the school, which will be very useful for the students.

We had several meetings with the school officials who explained the new curriculum which will bring some changes to the structure of the school. It was interesting to see how the school is developing and adapting to the changes of the modern world, trying to provide young students with the necessary skills to face the challenges of the future.

The weather in Utange was beautiful, although work commitments limited the time available for sunbathing. However, the visit was very rewarding and allowed me to see for myself the positive impact our efforts and donations are having on the local community.
